Slickline Pressure Control BOP

Slickline Pressure Control BOP Maintenance Services

We specialize in the maintenance, redress, testing, and certification of slickline pressure control equipment, including wireline and slickline BOPs, stuffing boxes, lubricators, tool traps, check valves, quick-test subs, and related control systems. Our end-to-end service is designed to maintain well control integrity, improve operator safety, and ensure reliable equipment performance in both onshore and offshore environments. By combining technical expertise, quality-controlled servicing, and detailed testing procedures, we help keep pressure control equipment field-ready, compliant, and dependable for critical well intervention operations.

What We Maintain

Our service covers a complete range of slickline pressure control equipment and associated components used in well intervention and pressure-containing operations.

Core Pressure Control Equipment

We maintain slickline and wireline BOPs, including single, dual, and ram-type units. Our services include ram change-out, bonnet seal replacement, detailed inspection, and full function testing to verify proper operation and sealing performance.

We also service stuffing boxes and pack-off assemblies, including packing redress, mandrel inspection, gland servicing, and dynamic leak checks. These components are critical for maintaining pressure integrity around the slickline while allowing smooth line movement during intervention work.

For lubricators and risers, we perform thread inspection, seal and bore checks, pressure testing, drift checks, and corrosion protection assessment. These components are essential for safe tool deployment under pressure and must be kept in excellent structural and sealing condition.

Our maintenance scope also includes tool traps and head catchers, where we inspect alignment, spring integrity, and function to ensure safe retention of downhole tools. In addition, we service quick unions such as Type-N, Bowen, and Otis, along with API 6BX flange hubs, carrying out thread gauging and seal surface reconditioning to maintain secure pressure-containing connections.

We also maintain check valves, pump-in subs, bleed-off valves, and equalizing valves, including seat refurbishment, stem servicing, and crack-pressure verification. Where applicable, grease-injection heads are serviced through port cleaning, regulator inspection, and line checks.

Control and Interface Systems

In addition to the core pressure control string, we also maintain associated hydraulic and control systems. This includes accumulator units and hand pumps, where we carry out hydraulic function checks, accumulator pre-charge verification, and leak rectification. Control panels and interlocks are inspected for regulator performance, gauge accuracy, and safety interlock functionality.

We also inspect wellhead interface connections, including flanged and quick-union systems, hanger alignment, and seal compatibility checks to ensure the pressure control equipment integrates correctly and safely with the wellhead.

Scope of Services

Inspection and Redress

Our maintenance process begins with a full teardown and detailed inspection of the equipment. Critical load-bearing and pressure-containing parts can undergo non-destructive testing (NDT) such as MPI or PT, where applicable. We replace worn or damaged ram rubbers, seals, and packing elements, with elastomer options including HNBR, FKM, AFLAS, and FFKM depending on temperature, chemical exposure, and service conditions.

We also carry out bonnet sealing work, stem, shaft, and guide reconditioning, thread gauging using ring and plug gauges, and visual bore inspection. Corrosion remediation is performed where needed to restore serviceability and protect long-term integrity. For harsh operating conditions, we also perform sour-service compatibility checks in accordance with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirements for suitable materials and elastomers.

Testing and Certification

After servicing, the equipment is subjected to full hydrostatic pressure testing, including both low-pressure and high-pressure tests, using calibrated gauges and controlled test procedures. We also carry out function testing, including open and close cycles and ram closure verification on specified wire sizes.

Detailed pressure test charts and digital reports are provided, showing test media, set points, hold times, and acceptable leak rates. Where required, witnessed testing can be arranged with the client or approved third-party inspectors. We also prepare pre-deployment inspection tags and certification packs to support field readiness and compliance documentation.

Preventive and Corrective Maintenance

We offer both planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective repair services. Preventive programs are structured around duty hours, operating conditions, and service history to reduce the risk of unplanned failure. For urgent operational needs, we provide emergency breakdown support and fast-turnaround redress services using stocked replacement kits and streamlined workshop procedures.

When failures occur, we carry out root cause analysis to identify issues such as leaks, pack-off failure, ram damage, or control malfunctions. We also support equipment upgrades for HP/HT, H₂S, or low-temperature service, ensuring the pressure control system remains suitable for the intended operating conditions.

Technical Capabilities

Our service capabilities cover a broad range of slickline pressure control requirements. We support pressure ratings typically ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 psi, with higher ratings available depending on project requirements. Wire sizes commonly supported range from 0.092 inch to 0.160 inch, with custom sizes available on request.

We work with a variety of materials and seal options, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and Inconel cladding or trim where needed for corrosive or high-temperature service. Elastomer options such as HNBR, FKM, AFLAS, and FFKM are selected based on temperature and chemical compatibility requirements.

We also support multiple connection standards, including Type-N, Bowen, and Otis unions, API 6BX flanges, and custom adapter arrangements. Our servicing practices are aligned with recognized industry requirements such as API 16A, API 6A, and NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156, as well as specific client well control procedures and OEM recommendations. Final acceptance criteria are always aligned with the client’s QHSE plan and local regulations.

Safety and QA/QC

Safety and quality assurance are central to every stage of our maintenance and testing process. We apply barrier philosophy and well control discipline during pressure testing and redress activities to ensure safe handling of pressure-containing equipment. All instruments used in testing are calibrated and supported by current certificates.

Our procedures also include Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) implementation, pressure safety protocols, and strict workshop control measures. Full traceability of parts, elastomers, and test media is maintained throughout the service process. We provide complete documentation, including inspection reports, test records, photographs, punch lists, and certification packs, so clients have full visibility of equipment condition and work performed.
